Lanotec to Continue Support of Supercars Young Gun Jay Robotham

Lanotec, the Australian-made leader in high-performance multi-purpose lubricants and protectants, is proud to continue its backing of Australian motorsport young gun Jay Robotham, who will remain an ambassador for the brand through 2025.

The 21-year-old from Lancefield, Victoria, has this season represented Lanotec across a range of motorsport disciplines in Australia and Asia, culminating in a co-drive with Brad Jones Racing’s Bryce Fullwood in this year’s Repco Supercars Championship endurance races at Sandown and Bathurst.

At the twin events, the Middy’s Racing Chevrolet Camaro will feature Lanotec’s distinctive green logo on its headlights.

For Lanotec, the opportunity to continue to partner with Robotham was simple.

“We couldn’t be prouder to support Jay as he continues climbing up the motorsport ladder,” said Dale May, Lanotec Managing Director.

“Since we first connected via his racing in Thailand early last year, he has been the perfect ambassador for Lanotec, with speed matched by his professional approach on and off the track.

“Jay has a bright future in the sport, and we can’t wait to see him continue his charge.”

With a grounding in the sport from Super2, Super3, Trans-Am, Production Cars, Toyota 86s, and Excel Racing, Robotham is primed for this year’s endurance races, which will culminate in his third attempt at the Bathurst 1000.

“Firstly, it’s fantastic to continue my relationship with Lanotec; they are a great Australian company making world-class products,” said Robotham.

“After our two-day test at Winton, I can’t wait to get back to Sandown and Bathurst.

“It’s been a while since I’ve been behind the wheel of a Supercar, but the Brad Jones Racing crew are great to get along with, and things were really comfortable during the test.

“Last time out in Tassie, they clearly struck on a good setup direction to get Bryce onto the podium, so it shows the team’s potential.

“Obviously, in the enduros there’s an emphasis on good race pace across longer stints, and it was something we focused on at the test.

“Bryce and I are similar in size and height, so that should make things fairly simple in the driver changes.”

To date this season, Robotham has stayed sharp with multiple programs across the region, including the Thai Super Series for Corliss Race Engineering, where he has campaigned in both the Super Pickup class aboard a Ford Ranger, plus in the GTM Championship with a MARC Mustang.

Elsewhere abroad, Robotham has taken in three rounds of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia series at the Sepang International Circuit, the Chang International Circuit and Fuji International Speedway.

Driving a Mercedes-AMG for Climax Racing, Robotham has impressed with his pace against the professional class drivers in his first foray into sportscar racing.

Last weekend at Sepang, paired with team principal Craig Corliss, Robotham registered results of second and fourth from the day-night meet.

“It’s hard to believe how busy this season has turned out!” Said Robotham.

“Between three different classes in Asia and some other racing here in Australia, it’s been great to keep my hand in and continue to learn across a range of cars.

“Obviously, there are some pretty big differences between the Ranger pickup, the MARC Car and the AMG GT3, but it all adds together to keep me sharp for the Supercar.

“Also, it’s been fun to get involved with a lot of testing over there and help develop the different packages.

“It has been a pretty big change this year to base myself overseas, away from home and solely concentrate on racing.

“The opportunities that have been made available to me have been great, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.”

Meanwhile, on Australian shores in 2024, Robotham was a starter in the Bathurst 6 Hour aboard a Toyota 86, while he dominated the opening two rounds of the Victorian Hyundai Excel Championship, and despite missing the two most recent rounds due to overseas commitments, he remains third in the point standings.

Coincidently, this year, Lanotec has claimed naming-rights sponsorship for the grassroots Hyundai Excel Racing Association of Victoria and its state championship series, which is hosted at Sandown, Phillip Island Winton, and Calder Park.

Additionally, Lanotec support has extended across the Corliss Race Engineering fleet in the Thailand Super Series, while the company recently made its first foray into the North American scene, supporting an entry in the new Ford Mustang Challenge with the Dark Horse R model.
